TRACHTENBERG WEBSITE: COLD WAR HISTORY

This website is meant to serve primarily as a kind of supplement to my book, A Constructed Peace: The Making of the European Settlement, 1945-1963 (Princeton: Princeton University Press, February 1999). It has three main parts:

(1) Appendices to A Constructed Peace;

(2) A discussion of declassification analysis, one of the methods used in the book, together with some illustrative documents; and

(3) A practical guide to doing Cold War history.

My plan is to revise the guide continuously, as new information becomes available and existing references become obsolete. This version reflections major revisions made in February 2002. I intend to maintain the guide for at least ten years following the publication of the book--that is, until 2009. I'd like to get your suggestions about how the guide might be revised, and especially about what additional material might be included.
