Many of the readings for this course are provided here, in Adobe Acrobat PDF (Portable Document File) format. The password needed to read those files will be announced during lectures. Computers in the UCLA labs are set up to read PDF files from within Netscape.
If you are working at home, you should configure your computer
similarly. The $10 BruinOnLine software package includes the
Netscape browser. And you can download and install a FREE copy of
Acrobat Reader.
Some of the PDF files are large, 300k or so. Those would take forever to download over a slow telephone connection, and I don't recommend it. Instead, I recommend that you access them in a lab, and save from there to your Zip disk (or floppies), and carry them home on your disk.
