Introductions:

All the video segments found here are taken from two political debates video recorded by A. Duranti during his project Democracy is born in conversation: Walter Capps' campaign for the U.S. Congress. The first debate took place on August 9, 1996 in Santa Maria, sponsored by the Area Agency on Aging, and the other took place on October 7, 1996, in Santa Barbara, sponsored by the League of Women Voters. The numbering of the segments mirrors the order in which the events occurred (e.g. what found in #1 happened before what happens in # 2, etc.), but they are not necessarily continuous with one another (i.e. there are in-between interactions that are not provided).
