Computer Laboratory Sessions
LAB TIMES:
- Thursdays, 2:00 - 3:00 p.m., Public Policy 2035H
- Thursdays, 3:30 - 4:30 p.m., Public Policy 2035H
- Fridays, 12:00 - 1:00 p.m., Public Policy 2035H
Note: Laboratory sessions begin during the first FULL week of quarter. There
will be no formal lab sessions on the Thursday or Friday of Thanksgiving Break
(the last Thursday and Friday of November).
- Occasionally, there will be new material covered in the laboratory sessions.
Hands on experience is crucial to gaining a good understanding of the
material in this course.
- DO NOT MISS YOUR FIRST SESSION! Come prepared to take notes. The first lab
meeting will cover the UCLA Social Sciences Computing (SSC) microcomputer network,
access procedures, printers, files and file editing, communications, and an
example of a SHAZAM computer program run. Understanding this stuff early is
crucial; you will be using it for every assignment after Problem Set #1!
- If you are completely unable to arrange your schedule to attend one of the lab
sessions, you will be able to work through most of the examples on your own. They
will be available on the network.
