At the Chester County Historical Society there is a diary, marked Manuscript 1782. On page 29 of this diary is the record of the death of a THomas Monks.

1822 - 10 mo. 28 - Thomas Monks, Senr., died aged about 90 years.

The earliest record for this Thomas Monks is the tax list for Birmingham Township for 1760. He was not listed there in 1758 or 1759. Some of these records were copied from the original tax lists at the historical society. Others were found in the Pennsylvania Archives, Series III. The numbers of the volumes and pages will be given for the latter.
