          Obituary: Ralph V. McMichael, 87, of Plum, died Monday at Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville. Born in West Sunbury, May 19, 1911, he was the son of Jesse and Alice (Seton) McMichael. Mr. McMichael was retired from Union Railroad. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Plum Creek. He is survived by is wife, Sara "Sally" (Coulter) McMichael; a son, Theodore "Ted" McMichael of Manassas, Va; a brother, Robert McMichael of Ocala, Fla; a sister Aleta McMichael of Zelienople; and two grandchildren. This is a sorrowful instance of weakness of the human mind his death caused by marriage imprudently and after his temporal concernments being not quit successful produced melancholy and total abstemiousness from refreshment of every kind, ultimately derangement and finally dissolution, how frail is life how weak is man." George MONKS was born circa 1765. He died on 22 July 1815 at Kennett, Chester, PA. He was buried on 24 July 1815 at Kennett, Chester, PA.

George L Monks, 88, of Brown Avenue died at 11:30 pm Monday at Butler Memorial Hospital. Born in Richmond, VA., Jan.27, 1912, he was the son of Miller and Clara Gibson Monks. He retired in 1970 as an instrument maker at Contraves Corp. in Pittsburgh after 25 years, and was a member of a team that produced the first space gyroscope. He also had worked at Hutchinson's Cleaners, Bantam Car Co. and Castle Rubber. He was a member of St. Michael The Archangel Roman Catholic Church and the church's 55 and Alive group. Surviving are his wife , Genevieve A. Pappalard Monks, to whom he was married for 65 years; a son, Adam S. Monks of Bradfordwoods; two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Carmel) Balderson of Aliquippa and Mrs. Ray (Carol Jean) Knotick of Butler, a brother; Larry Monks of Florida; a stepsister, Nancy Eakin of Ohio; seven
grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister and a grandson.
MONKS -- Friends of George L Monks who died Monday, Dec. 25, 2000, will be received fro 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Wednesday at Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Thursday at St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Center Avenue. The Rev. James Dolan, church pastor will officiate. Burial will be at the church Cemetery.
The Bereavement Group of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church will hold a scripture wake service at 3 pm Wednesday at the church. He married Genevieve A. PAPPALARD. George L. MONKS was born on 27 January 1912 at PA. He died on 25 December 2000 at Butler, Butler County, PA, at age 88.2
