Course requirements and their approximate weights in the course grade are as follows: midterm examination (c. 30%), final examination (c. 40%), several brief assignments (c. 10%), an individual project investigating particular occupations chosen by the student (c. 10%), and performance in discussion section (c. 10%). The examinations will cover both lecture material and reading assignments, and will include both multiple choice and short answer questions. The brief assignments will each require writing half a page and coming to class prepared to discuss it. The individual project will require some library research about particular occupations selected by the student, and writing a report of approximately 5 typed pages.
