The Creator's Rights Party Position on Homosexuality

I chose the Creator's Rights Party because I am curious about how a majority of people justify negative attitudes and treatment towards queer people. The cite itself is relevant to the class project because it illuminates the opposing side in the argument that queer people are marginalized group, not only in the dominant heterosexual culture but in the laws as well, and deserve full rights and equal protection as promised by the Constitution of the United States of America.

The Creator's Rights Party has numerous goals and clear positions on the legitimacy of there perspective. Primarily, there agenda, which includes arresting homosexuals, bashing the central government and current liberal society for not only it's acceptance of homosexual people but all those who are in favor of choice, is legitimated by the word of God and the original meaning of the Constitution. Their interpretation of the intentions of the Bible are extolled by the extremely direct and opinionated Neal Horsely. Mr. Horsely articulates the Creator's Rights Party political position throughout the several articles I investigated, which were all found through the web page link sites.

The first article is called Documenting Desecration. The primary focus of the article is the news media's coverage and sympathy towards homosexuals and homosexuality. The article itself rages over the media coverage of the openly homosexual and homoeroticism of the poet Allen Ginsberg. The agenda is clear. Mr. Horsely berates the news media for having the "same theological agenda as Ginsberg, an agenda designed to turn the God of the Bible into a fairy tale." According to Mr. Horsely the news media is "demon possessed" for covering Ginsberg death and "if you value this nation, you should care because the news media in the United States of America has raised this card carrying member of the North American Man-Boy Love Association (NAMBLA), which supports the repeal of the age of consent laws and advocates "consensual" sexual relations between men and boys, to the level of socially approved intellectual guru." The political position focuses on the supposed aim of homosexuals in targeting youth. The Culture war between those "enslaved to perverted tolerance" and those that interpret the bible to mean that god does not condone sex outside of heterosexual marriage is further discussed in the following article.

The article Arresting Homosesuals is fraught with an order perspective. By this I mean that all social arrangements are natural, fixed and hierarchal. Theoretically this viewpoint values heterosexual marriage and family as normal, superior and right. All other arrangements and situations are deviant and in need of control. This essentialist ideology which sees sexuality as an underlying essence is problematic because Neal Horsely argues that "others n are created by current culture. He castigates the media for covering the death of Mathew Shepherd, "because he was homosexual, he was chosen to be the latest explanatory symbol used by the media to condition the people of this nation to treat homosexuals as a category of human beings deserving special, and therefore unequal, protection of the laws. The political and theoretical agenda is clear. Homosexuality is deviant and should not only be punished through Uarrest" but concomitantly be left out of the laws as deserving equal treatment. He states that "none of the news reports mention the fact that homosexuality is an illegal activity in several States of this nation." The theoretical agenda is illuminated by Mr. Horsely's position that homosexuals and their supporters are "slaying manhood" by "destroying the definition of manhood." This strongly patriarchal viewpoint is furthered by the idea that "not only homosexuals but virtually every person in this present generation has a hand in being the manslayer." This is summed up to be what Mr. Horsely calls "satan's strategy." This supposed strategy of satan, or current culture, is justified by The Creator's Rights Party because "all sexual activity except that between one man and one woman married to each other, is against the will of god.n Not only is current culture to blame, but all other scriptural interpretations of the Bible are " a harbinger of death, and destruction and eternal torment in hell."

The political agenda is clearly summed up as well. At this particular time, "in the United States of America, you only have one political party committed to arresting all categories of faggots: The Creator's Rights Party. n The Party defines faggots as "every person destined for the fires of hell." Within the Enslaved to the Immoral Majority article, Mr. Horsely again expands on the political agenda of the party by saying that current culture reveals "just as O.J. Simpson was uplifted by a solid majority of African Americans long after it was clear that the man is a bloody murderer, so too does the immoral majority (no longer African Americans alone, but this time a cross-cultural, cross-dressing mongrel mishmash) rule the nation."

The parts of society represented by the Creator's Party is obvious. It is made up of an older, racist, heterosexist white male constituency fearing progress who justify their negative treatment and attitudes towards practically everyone else through a conservative interpretation of the will of God. Within current culture, people of color and alternative sexualities are gaining more and more visibility, which in turn, threatens those that fear diversity and progress. The Creator's Rights Party theoretical explanation of GLBT people as deviant finds its genesis in the order perspective, which views sexuality, especially heterosexuality, as normal and natural. The will of the Christian God is used for justification. Because the older white male power structure is creaking to a halt, with much help from feminist and LGBT critical analysis, many males effected by the loss of power blame women, people of color, the poor, and especially queer people for threatening the tenants of outdated hedgemonic thought of mostly middle class racist, sexist white males born and educated in another time. I think and know that the probability of The Creator's Rights Party success is extremely low, because yes, they are outnumbered. Not only is their thinking outmoded (thank god, and not the god they're talking about) on their website, but it has, since I have investigated it, been removed from the internet. Yeah!
