65. Mikhail Gorbachev and George Bush signed the START
Treaty with pens made of the metals made out of missiles destroyed in the
INF Treaty. To compound the symbolism the pens were held in a plaque bearing
the symbol of St. George slaying the dragon and the above-cited motto,
which sounds like it was translated into English by a native speaker of
Russian. It seems probable that the reference is to the given names of
the two signers, and their corresponding saints. In Christian art St. Michael's
defeat of Satan is shown much like St. George, with the devil represented
