The Wild Buckaroo Curly Fletcher I've been riding for cattle most all of my lif.e. I ain't got no family and I ain't got no wife I ain't got no kith and I ain't got no kin. I never did finish, I never did begin. I've rode down in Texas where the cowboys are tall, And the state's pretty big, but the horses are small. At singing to the ladies I'm hard to outdo, I'm a high loping cowboy and a wild buckaroo. I've rode in Montana and in old Idaho, And I've rode for the tracys in old Mexico, I've rode across the desert with the water far between, And I've crossed Death Valley without a canteen. I've rode mountain lions and she grizzly bears, And I've used choya cactus for combing my hair. At roping wild grizzlies I'm hard to outdo. I'm a high loping cowboy and a wild buckaroo. I've talked lots of Spanish, and I've talked Piyoot. And I pack along knife and a pistol to boot, I've got no senorita, and I've got no squaw, I've got no sweetheart, no mother-in-law. I've never been tied up to old apron strings. I ain't no red devil, but I ain't got no wings. At courting the ladies I'm hard to outdo. I'm a high loping cowboy and a wild buckaroo. I don't like the whiskey, but I do like my beer, And I don't care from mutton, but I do like my steer. I'll leave you alone if you'll just let me be, But don't ever think you can jump onto me. I'll fight anybody that would go to the mat, He'll think he's in a sack with the wild panther cat. At rough and tough fixing I'm hard to outdo, I'm a high loping cowboy and a wild buckaroo. This one is pretty well-known, but the web doesn't seem to have heard it. Just like with the Strawberry Roan, having written the song, Fletcher wrote a bawdy parody of it. Maybe he figured it was going to happen anyway, so he'd rather be the one to do it.
