Hi ho the Delaware River,
It's gloomy and grimy and makes quite a stink.
In Phillie they feed you the finest of food,
But it's Delaware water you drink.

Way up in the North there's a trickling stream.
The Delaware is born through a small mountain pass.
They call that the headwaters and so it would seem
That makes Philadelphia the Delaware's port.

Now fishing the Delaware's not too much fun,
But once I saw quite a successful young man.
He told me it was quite easily done
By baiting his hook with a Budweiser can.

There's a river in Cleveland, the great Tiyahoga
Caught fire one day like it had been hexed.
And people from Teaneck up to Tiyoga
Will tell you will the Delaware's going to be next.

Our fair city boasts of another fine creek
It's spelled S-C-H-U-Y-L-K-I-L-L.
A friend of mine drank from the Schuylkill last week,
And he's begging for Delaware water in hell.
