I specialize in international relations theory. My work has focused on developing models of strategic interaction to explain international cooperation and conflict and on elucidating the relationship between domestic politics and foreign policy.

I am currently a co-editor of the American Political Science Review and have served on the editorial boards of International Organization, the American Journal of Political Science, and International Interactions.

I served on the Policy Planning Staff of the US Department of State and have assisted the intelligence and defense communities.
