LA at Play
a research and training program supported by the National Science Foundation.

Description: For eight weeks each summer, a new cohort of undergraduates is introduced to ethnographic field research on leisure behavior in public settings. Substantively, we seek to reorient and reinvigorate the study of behavior in public places. As a training program, we seek to develop a new generation of ethnographic fieldworkers who will increase the representation of underrepresented populations in sociology graduate school, expand the ability of social research to access relatively uncharted areas of social life, and increase the diversity of research university teaching faculty.
