Sisupalgarh Excavation Project

Since 2005, UCLA has been involved with a project of excavations and geophysical survey at the site of Sisupalgarh, co-directed by R.K. Mohanty of Deccan College (Pune, India) and Monica L. Smith of the UCLA Cotsen Institute of Archaeology (USA). These excavations are supported by the American Institute of Indian Studies, the National Endowment for the Humanities, the National Science Foundation, National Geographic Society, the Ahmanson Foundation, and the Cotsen Institute of Archaeology.

By request of the Government of India and the Archaeological Survey of India, all information about these ongoing excavations are to be presented to the public in traditional paper publications only. Recent publications include:
