Staff

The Rock Art Archive Staff shares a concern for the future of rock art as a cultural resource, and also has a deep interest in research issues. They work to preserve the rich history of many sites in California through a number of on-going independent research, recording and documentation projects. Rock art fieldwork requires the same skills and abilities normally expected in any other archaeological project: mapping, measuring, drafting, photographing and surveying, and the latest digital technology and equipment for recording data.

Digital Artists

The primary tasks of the graphic artists are to restore, enhance and salvage rock art images from various collections. They use digital tools such as Adobe Photoshop to enhance images of petroglyphs and pictographs that have degraded over time. They scan and edit a wide range of photographic media for the production of photographic databases on CD-ROM.
