UHA Board Meeting Minutes

Need to find a new meeting time due to time conflict with Phi Alpha Theta.

 

-PLANNING-

-Lunch with Prof. Ruiz – separate from PAT.

Need a date – Jon checking with Teo.

 

Club Registration – Oct. 12, 3:30p Kerchoff Grand Salon. Jon, Bret and Brandon will be attending.

 

-EVENTS-

-Faculty Lectures

-Student-Faculty Dinners

-Student “shadowing” faculty

 

Letter from History major - student asking for funding from the University for the Department. Possible mailing campaign?

 

-Homecoming

Float – (no time)

Marching Group – (minimum numbers?)

>>Voted down on participation concerns

 

-PLANNING-

-1 Lecture per quarter – Food provided?

-Lunches – funding a problem?

            UHA provides lunch for professor and students buy their own.

            Outdoor lunches preferred – grassy area

-2nd Student-Faculty dinner?

            Winter and Spring?

-Fundraising? – Bake sale?

-Trip to the Getty – Co-programmed with the Dorms

-Events on the Hill – so many students ready to do something.

-Faculty in Residence

            Jon to contact Kelly Hernandez – Co-program w/ building

-Classroom announcements for 1st General Meeting

            Free raffle w/ donated stuff from Westwood community - to pull people in.

 

-General Membership Meeting – need gimmick

-Getting involved with Graduate History Association and graduate students.

Emily, president of the GHA – Need to be quick and meet, hopefully this month.

-General Meeting

-Teo Lunch Oct 18th-21st or 25-29th. Jon looking into reserving Conference Room.

 

Application Process Problems

            Turn in applications to UHA office instead of to Paul (keeps track of payments and members).

            Bret in charge – Every Thursday morning - pickup mail. Also making spreadsheet of all members and payment records.

            -Turn applications into mailbox (not office).

            -Tracking members vs. listserv members

            -Change master template of applications (Replace “return to Paul and Sue’s office” with “mailbox”)

 

Welcome letter/email – Welcoming new members to the club - “Your funds have been received and you are now an official member”.

 

 - Everyone to email availabilities to Jon.
