Main Class page help

At the top of the page in the left-hand corner is the History Icon. By clicking on it you can return to the History Department. At the top of the page and to the right you will find displayed the quarter, and links to the Discussion Board and Announcements pages. The Discussion Board, is a communication tool, allowing students, instructors, and teaching assistants to post messages, assignments, and read followups. The Announcements page is where instructors add important course announcements, which will appear as a bulleted list.

Just under resides the title of the course and the time and location where it meets, followed by Instructor Information (office, phone number, email, office hours). If your instructor is a teaching assistant, his or her section web site will be "linked" to their name.

The Syllabus or course description will sit within this main page after the instructor's information.

At the bottom of the main page you will find More Course links. Here you will find a Help - page (you are viewing now) to explain the interface and what options are available on each page, with a help screen for the Main page, Announcements page, Course Links page, and the Discussion Board. You will also find a link entitled List of Links which is - A collection of important links, including general UCLA links, Department links, and specific links for this class that the instructor may add. You may find new additions as the quarter proceeds, such as Readers, Tables, Handouts, etc, as your instructor adds to his or her web site.

Next follows a Catalog Description which is displayed only if a syllabus is not in place. Some instructors may modify this on their own page, but the Official Course Description can always be found on the Registrar's Detail Page for this class. Next follows Final Exam information for this class. Further down is a section entitled "UCLA Links" which contains links to the Registrar. The Registar's listing goes to the official times and locations of all sections for the class. The Registar's detail link gives more information, including the official course description. The ASUCLA textbooks link performs a textbook search at ASUCLA for this class and returns prices and availability for the textbooks.

At the very bottom of the page, there are links to the main department site, other Social Science class sites, Social Sciences Computing, and UCLA's home page.
