Call for Papers

The History + (plus) conference is an effort to highlight the research of those who incorporate interdisciplinary approaches in their historical work.

The goals of the History + conference are to:

1. Showcase graduate student work in History along with other fields with a strong historical foundation

2. Make connections across academic fields and specializations in a historical context

3. Encourage innovation and novel approaches to history

4. Create space for academic dialogues around work that blurs the traditional lines and boundaries of 'History'

The History + conference will engender a collaborative atmosphere in which to share academic ideas and feedback. We are using the conference as a platform to re-launch the UCLA Historical Journal. The best History + conference papers will be considered for publication in the next issue of the journal. We invite graduate students to submit paper abstracts.

Graduate students interested in participating should submit a paper abstract not exceeding 500 words as an email attachment by June 15, 2011. All abstracts should be in Word format as follows: Last name, First name, UCLA Conference 2011 (ex. Smith, Jane, UCLA Conference 2011). The subject line of the email should read: Last name, First name, UCLA Conference 2011. Full panel submissions will be considered but are not necessary.
