Section Requirements: (section grade worth 15% of course grade)
 

1. Section participation is 70% of section grade

2. One paragraph on the weekly reading is 30%

All reading assignments are compulsory. Try to skim the secondary sources, but primary sources are important as they reflect and render the texture of the times (Letters and Peoples).

Homework Assignments: Every week you will turn in at least a paragraph on one primary source reading for that week. You will briefly address the questions: What does this tell us about the time when it was written?  What was the point of the reading?

Attendance, policies for absences:  If you have to miss class, please contact me beforehand, late homeworks will receive a grade of zero unless you arrange it with me ahead of time. Emergencies will be dealt with on an individual basis.

Late papers: 2 points off per days late (including weekends.)

Check out regularly the bulletin board or e-mail, as I am going to post general announcements on the main points of the discussions, study questions and newspaper articles related to the reading under identifiable headings.
