WHAT YOU CAN DO RIGHT NOW
“As American citizens increasingly raise their voices and write their letters about Darfur, the temperature has indeed risen. But not enough. We need to make it a little warmer, a little more uncomfortable for those politicians who would look away. Just a few more degrees. Just a few more thousand letters. It is, frankly, that simple.” - Don Cheadle and John Prendergast, The Wall Street Journal, March 24, 2005

JOIN THE LETTER WRITING CAMPAIGN
After the Rwandan genocide, the late Senator Paul Simon said, “If every member of (the U.S.) House and Senate had received 100 letters from people back home saying we have to do something about Rwanda when the crisis was first developing, then I think the response would have been different.” 1) The Darfur Accountability Act (S. 495) and the Darfur Genocide Accountability Act (H.R. 3127) have been introduced to the Senate and the House, calling the U.S. and U.N. to take action in Darfur. It is up to us to get our congressional representatives to support these important pieces of legislation! a. Senators Feinstein and Boxer have both cosigned, but if you are from out of state, please contact your senator. b. Congressman Waxman yet to cosign, andif you are from outside the area, please make sure your representative has done so as well. Visit http://www.house.gov/writerep/ to locate the district office.
