1. After
discussion, the faculty voted 17 yes, 0 no, 0 abstentions to support
departmentalization. Absentee vote via email: 6 yes; 0 no; 0 abstain
(Roshan Bastani, Emil Berkanovic, Jerry Kang, Snehendu Kar, Jingqi
Ling, and Russell Leong).
2. Stacey
gave a briefing on program changes to the MA requirements. After
discussion, the faculty voted 17 yes, 0 no, 0 abstentions to approve
the changes.
3. Clara Chu
initiated the proposal for a new joint MA program in AAS and Information
Studies. Dennis made a presentation of the proposal. After discussion,
the faculty voted 17 yes, 0 no, 0 abstentions to approve the new
join MA degree program. Clara will work with Information Studies
to get their approval before final submission. The faculty also
discussed the need for providing more sufficient academic advising
to students in joint degree programs and formalizing the structure
in administering the joint degree programs.
4. After discussion,
the faculty voted 17 yes, 0 no, 0 abstentions to approve the appointment
of Dr. Pham as temporary instructor for another three year, teaching
one course (either U.S.-Vietnam relations or a relevant theme
course) per year.
